Osteopathy

Face Pain

Katie completed her undergraduate training at the British School of Osteopathy, London in 1995 and came to work at Farfield House with her brother John and colleague Stuart in September 1995. She loves her work and being in practice with such a dedicated team.

Although Katie is interested in all osteopathic areas she quickly became fascinated by the approaches to the head and neck in particular. Having been advised to be in full time practice for two years before undertaking post-graduate cranial osteopathic technique training in order to hone her palpation skills, Katie began her cranial technique training in 1998. This technique is particularly helpful in approaching patients following traumatic injury (such as car accidents and assaults) and patients presenting with face pain, head pain and neck problems. It is also the osteopathic approach which is often helpful with the treatment of babies, children and teenagers. Katie worked at the Osteopathic Centre for Children for 2 years early in her career and was fortunate to experience treating many children and babies at this centre of excellence in osteopathic child healthcare.

Having a strong belief in skills and communication development, Katie has been involved with the Northern Counties Society of Osteopaths for over 20 years, organising meetings and conferences with the team. In 2019 she became Hon. President of the NCSO. During her tenure she represented members at national level and supported members through the COVID pandemic. In March 2025 she stepped back from the NCSO to focus on her role at the SCCO.

Having been a member of the Sutherland Cranial College (SCCO) for 20 years, in 2022 she became a Fellow of the SCCO, a post-graduate osteopathic educational charity. Katie has also undertaken the demanding “Osteopathic Education” course and has become a Tutor with the SCCO. Feeling that she wanted to give back to the College which had supported her osteopathic development over the years, she became a Trustee of the college in 2022 and Treasurer to the college in 2024.
